NATIONAL HISTORY
The Alpha chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi was founded on November 27th, 1919 at Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, OK. Founded initially by 10 men with the help of their band director, Bohumil Makovsky, the fraternity was an honorary society for outstanding bandsmembers. Since 1919, Kappa Kappa Psi has inducted over 66,000 men and women into the co-ed fraternity.


CHAPTER HISTORY
The History of Epsilon Xi
The Epsilon Xi chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi was installed at Miami University on March 13, 1970. Epsilon Xi is in the South Block of the North Central District of Kappa Kappa Psi. Since the beginning of Epsilon Xi, we have worked with the Delta Epsilon chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi's sister organization, Tau Beta Sigma, to better serve the bands at Miami University. Epsilon Xi was also the first chapter of the North Central District to begin initiating women.
RECENT HISTORY
In 2017, the Epsilon Xi chapter had the honor of hosting the Membership Education Retreat (MER) for the North Central District of Kappa Kappa Psi. In addition, Epsilon Xi has been getting more involved on the district and national levels by sending delegates to the past district conventions and national convention. In March 2019, the Epsilon Xi chapter had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Brooke Johnson, Miami University's new Director of Athletic Bands, as an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi.
